BUILDING YOUR WEBSITE
A well-thought-out website reads like a good book. We want to make sure your “chapters” are in order, allowing the site to flow. Think about your company. What do you want people to know? What is essential? What do you want them to be able to do online? Will you sell gift cards or offer online scheduling? Can they meet your team? It is imperative that we think through all of the above. We must not only decide what we want on our site but how we want it to be seen. Back to the book analogy: we do not want to present chapter three before our introduction, right?!?
I’ve been working on my company’s site for the past 20 years; I’ll share some things I’ve learned in the process to help you plan!
After you think you know everything you want to include on your site, look up your local competitors’ websites. Know what they are offering and how they are presenting themselves. You do NOT want to COPY them, simply have an awareness.
Next, we begin with the “Bare Minimum” I suggest a homepage, an About Us page, and a list of services.
- The Virtual Introduction to your company.A screenshot of what you offer that showcases your company’s vibe.
- The contact page houses all of your basic info: address, phone number, & hours. This page should also include a paragraph about who you are, as well as what your company’s mission is.
- This is the meat & potatoes of your site. What are you offering? This could be a page or several. I prefer to break down each department into its own page.
I encourage you to have your contact information as a banner at the bottom of each page, as well as a home page button to return to from anywhere on the site!
If you have the time and budget, create a Meet the Team page, so your guests make a connection with your staff before walking through the door.
The Service Page(s) can simply be a Service Menu of prices, but remember the more details your guests can find online the less time they need with your Front Desk.
Gallery of work! Whether you choose to upload several new photos a week/month or quarter, make sure you keep these fresh. Once upon a time, my company had its Instagram feed on the homepage.
Reviews & Write-Ups! Let others tell your potential new guest how great you are!!
As you can see, there are A LOT of things to take into consideration when creating your company website. Take some time to think about it, so you create a BEST SELLER!
