Are you under the influence?

How do you learn the newest beauty trends? What factors do you consider before adding a new service or product to your salon? When do you make the decision?

While trade shows and current vendors may keep you up to speed, there’s a good chance you are being motivated by influencers. Either directly or through your clients.

What is an influencer? “Someone in your niche or industry with sway over your target audience. Influencers have specialized knowledge, authority, or insight into a specific subject.”

We’re not talking about Jennifer Aniston teaming up with Living Proof Haircare. An influencer is a “real person” with a social media following that listens to their opinions/advice.

Should we use influencers for our salon marketing? The beauty industry is one of the top-influenced markets. Surely this means that we are under the INFLUENCE whether we recognize it or not.

I prefer organic influences for my business. Ask your loyal clientele with a decent number of followers to post their visits to your salon and mention you in their stories. When you see how a regular person can influence their friends to come to your salon, you’ll know if paying an influencer to promote your salon is worthwhile.
